The day of the Baptism

Again, the blog post is dated the 26th, but the event was on Saturday, July 21 at 10 in the morning.  And then the celebration to which all of the friends and family were invited was at lunch time and lasted until late in the night.

The very nicest thing about where we were staying in Pimentel was the fact that the house was only a few steps from the church.  So many of the people attending the actual event gathered at the house and we walked to the church from the house.

I took a few more photos of the upstairs "living area".  Really the house is lovely and the views are even more lovely:

Here are a few photos as we gathered for the big event:

Finally everyone is dressed and ready:

You could see the church from our upstairs patio:

Only a couple of minutes before the actual event our group walked the few steps to the church:

God parents of Jack are :  Paola and Meme (Nickname for one of Alberto's buddies)

God parents of Galileo are: Alberto's niece, Isabella and Gringo (Louis Edwardo)

The church is charming.  I could not help but take a few photos:

And then back to the house to wait for the celebration.

Boys with Tia Paola:

We drove about half way between Pimentel and Chiclayo to a piece of property on which a tent had

been put up.  A friend of Alberto's owns the land and another friend did the catering.  In Peruvian style, the lunch took all day.  We arrived about 12:30 and when I left at about 7, there were still some of Alberto's friends still celebrating.  I drove home with Ricky, Monica, Jaime, and Vicky.  And I spent some time in Ricky and Monica's home until they sat down to dinner.  I could not even look at any more food....so I went home.
