Thea is back! I was not that unhappy that I was not wakened for the 6am feeding. Mary and I did great taking care of both the 12 and 3 PM feedings....although I didn't have a clock and don't know if we did them exactly on time. However, Thea showed up about 7 and Mary didn't waken me for the 6am feeding, so I assume that the babies slept in a bit. Mary and I were not perfect at sticking to exactly the every three hour schedule. But Thea is back and I am sure the schedule will be less flexible which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Today's big event is to put the car seats in Alberto's vehicle. Mary and Alberto want to finish the Peruvian papers so that they can begin the American papers. The next step in the Peruvian papers require that the babies are in attendance as well as both parents. Mary says they can't do that until car seats are installed.....BIG DAY!

Wednesday, 17 January
Thea (Nanny) had the day off today as well as both nights on either side of the day, so Mary and I basically changed diapers and fed babies around the clock for 36 hours. It was wonderful to have the babies totally to ourselves for the time, but it is definitely a lot of work! Paola hung out with all of us as well in the evening and ate dinner. It was a
very nice evening. A couple of photos .....Galileo on the left....Jack on the right....just hanging out in the living room with us.

Alberto and the twins getting ready for bed.

As you can tell, we are a bit more casual than the Nanny.

Tuesday 16 January
Alberto had a commitment early this morning, so Mary and I also got up early and started the day with the same walk that we had made last night. The area was a bit busier than last night. We were very proud of ourselves for having a second walk.
Between feedings we made a trip to Wong. That is the big, nice grocery that is beside my Starbucks. It is interesting as Mary says that the name comes from the Chinese/Peruvian family that founded the store. Apparently it started with just a small bodega like all of the small stores one sees everywhere in Lima. But it got the reputation for having really nice produce and meat and etc and was very successful and just continued to expand until it was a full size grocery. It was then bought out. But the next generation of the Wong family continues to run small stores. Such as the beautiful cheese shop we .
Mary's friend, came by to bring some papers to sign.

Tonight is Taco Tuesday ....busy night!

Monday 15 Jan
Busy day for Mary today! Alberto and Mary went someplace to start the process of all of the paperwork that needs to be done to get documentation for both countries. Today they didn't need to take the babies....just apply for the birth certificate. Then Mary had a meeting here at the house with her business partners. Alberto had several meetings during the evening. And Mom and Greg face timed us so that we could show off the twins and chat a bit.
Luckily Mary and I were able to slip out for a wonderful walk along the park system that is everywhere between the street she lives on and the edge of the cliff. It was just getting dark, but the area is well lighted and the weather was perfect!

Weekend of Jan 13-14
The weekend was a bit of a blur. Nothing much exciting happened until Sunday. Paolo had arrived in town in the middle of the night, but she was up and at the market early. Then while Alberto went to the equivalent of Home Depot, we unpacked the huge bag from Chicago that Paolo had brought back. There were things that Mary had ordered from Amazon and etc....including wonderful new slippers that I am going to buy for myself! And lots of baby "stuff". Sarah's blanket that she had finished all but tying in a few ends....and I had promised her that I would do that for her:

Birthday gifts for Alberto (one from me and one from Mary). Some clean clothes for me that Katie had sent with the HUGE pillow that Mary had ordered. The Who stuffed animals that I had bought at Kohls:

Paola couldn't wait to see the twins!

Lots of fun! But even more fun in late afternoon when Alberto grilled meat and veggies and Paolo brought SCRUMPTIOUS plates to go with the grilled meal. I am going to get Paolo and Mary to help me write down what we had tonight. It is Taco Tuesday here! I can hardly wait!

Recovering from the Party, 12 January
Maria came today to help us get the house back in order. It was amazing how well we had all cleaned up the night before....since everyone stayed past midnight to wish Alberto a Happy Birthday when his actual birthday began (official birthday is 12th). By the end of the day the entire apartment looked great! And there were lots of wonderful leftovers to eat!
Thea had an appointment in the morning, so the babies spent the morning hanging out with Mary and me:

I went back to the Inka Market to buy the yarn that I had looked at the other day while Mary napped a little bit in the late afternoon.

Party day! January 11
Today is the big day! Party tonight! Busy day.
A highlight of the day was the trip to the cheese shop. This is a new store in Lima that Mary and I had tried to visit for New Years's Eve, but it had been closed.....amazing store:
Need to put some of Mary's photos in here....worth seeing!
The day was spent preparing veggies for the grill and getting things organized and spiffing everything up just before everyone came. Mary and Alberto had told everyone that the party was at 8PM and made a point to explain that it would be prompt....right word? Because Alberto's parents were coming. Then it turned out that Alberto had to give a speech at the new southern Campus at 7.....so he was a bit late....but all went well.... Mary went after Alberto's mother....and I held down the fort here. The man who was grilling and helping showed up at 7 and luckily while he did not speak English he had been here enough that he could begin without much instruction.
LOTS OF FUN! A few photos:

Alberto's Mom holding Jack:

[I am editing on Saturday and working on names and Spanish words/pronunciation] Alberto's mother's name is Gilda (Sounds like Hilda) Sanchez de Bullon.
